Cities of Solidarity: Memory and Dialogue is a multi-city commemorative and dialogue programme taking place around 24 February 2026 — four years after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Arnhem, Haarlem, Zwolle and Leeuwarden, Ukrainians and Dutch residents come together for a shared moment of silence (12:00 CET), human stories, moderated dialogues, and artistic programmes.
The project responds to “war fatigue” and growing distance in public attention. It brings real voices back to the centre: experiences of living “in-between” two homes, resilience, gratitude and challenges of long-term displacement. Through culture and dialogue, remembrance becomes relationship — turning empathy into partnership.
Local press moments in each city connect into one national narrative, culminating in a dialogue hub in Utrecht. The programme leaves a legacy through documentation and a digital archive that preserves stories, performances and reflections for future educational use.
